Do you feel like your home is constantly filthy? Every day this dirt and mess is only added to and as a result you feel less and less motivated to do anything about it. But, why is it in such a state? Well, perhaps you can think of better ways to spend your time, or maybe you simply don’t have enough hours in the day.
Whatever the reasons, if you are considering hiring a cleaner then you might want to ask yourself a few questions to determine whether it is actually worth it the money, before you give them a call.
Do you like cleaning?
Do you enjoy cleaning or is it something that fills you with dread? If you hate cleaning, but do like living in a clean house then hiring a cleaner is probably worth it and can make your life a little easier and a little happier.
How much time do you have?
If between work, looking after the kids and the occasional social activity, you simply don’t have any time left, then a cleaner would probably be a big help and relieve some of the stress that comes with a busy life.
Could that time be better spent?
It is often said that ‘time is money’ but actually time is much more important than the pounds in the bank. So, could that spare time you have - whether it is hours or minutes – be better spent doing something else? If at the end of the day all you had done is clean, would you feel a sense of achievement or would you instead feel like you had wasted your day and missed out on doing something that could have created lasting memories.
Can you afford it?
Obviously hiring a cleaner is more of a luxury than a necessity, so can you actually afford it? Or like your time, could that money be put to better use?
Can anyone else help with the cleaning?
Before you spend money, that would perhaps be better spent elsewhere, have you perhaps considered whether there is anyone else that could help - a partner, son or daughter perhaps? If you share a house with other people, then responsibility and chores should be shared out equally. You shouldn’t have to do it all yourself and sharing the chores will cut the time cleaning takes for each person.
Would you end up cleaning before the cleaner got there?
This might sound crazy if you don’t like cleaning, but if you are at least a little house proud you may find yourself doing the majority of cleaning before the cleaner even turns up because you don’t want anyone to think you live in a filthy house. If you are likely to do this, then paying a cleaner is definitely a waste of your money!
If you have asked yourselves the above questions and come to the conclusion that yes, you do need a cleaner, then take a look at cleaning companies such as Molly Maid. Depending on your situation, you could have them in on a regular basis to help keep your house in order, or you could use them for a one off spring clean each year, to give you a fresh start that you are then able to keep on top of.
