The Worst Gifts To Give This Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is almost upon us and with options limited when it comes to buying gifts on the high street, people are certainly going to have to be a little more inventive this year. For some however, it’ll be the same old gifts and just another year.

Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year, but it can also be the most cliched. In fact, a UK bingo site has even created a bingo card of all the things we expect to see on such a day, such is the days now predictable nature.

On it you’ll find tons of different tired presents, from cheap flowers to even cheaper chocolates, but what are the worst gifts to give on Valentine’s Day?

Petrol Station/Supermarket Flowers

Supermarket flowers are not an ok Valentine’s Day gift. They may smell nice but they reek of last-minute. No unlucky partner deserves them, with people picking up a bunch alongside their weekly shop, placing them next to toilet roll and spuds in their trolley. That’s not romance. In fact, it’s far from it.

Own-Brand Chocolates

Now, we all love an own-brand chocolate, but unless they’re Marks and Spencers or Waitrose, then an own-brand chocolate from a supermarket really isn’t going to cut the mustard. Splash out that little bit more and purchase a nice box of truffles or selection box from a luxury chocolatier, not the pound saver range at Tesco or Morrisons.

Ill-Fitting Clothing

Unless you are confident in the sizing of your partner, buying clothes is only going to get you into trouble. Buying an item too big or too small is going to put a real downer on the most romantic day of the year and while it may not be the case, certainly suggests you don’t know your partner well enough. Buying clothes is risky business on such a day, not just for size but style and only the brave should attempt.

Vouchers

Lazy, lazy, lazy. Buying gift vouchers shows no imagination and again is a last ditch effort when you’re all out of ideas. Unless specifically asked for, vouchers should be avoided on Valentine’s Day. While they serve a purpose, they are far from romantic and should be kept well away from any Valentine’s Day card.

Slippers or Home Comforts

Save the slippers for Christmas. Valentine’s Day is meant to be a sexy day, not one that involves you getting comfy and cosy, there’s a time and place for that. Socks, slippers and loungewear should be a Christmas gift, and a bad one at that!
