About Us

Finding out you are bringing a new life into the world is amazing & exhilarating.
Waiting 9 months to meet them is exciting and scary.
Holding your newborn baby for the first time is magical.
Being Leo's Mummy is the most rewarding job in the world.
Even on the not so great days when bedtime cannot come soon enough!

I am Laura, the Mummy behind 'Life Unexpected' and back in 2011 I began writing my very first blog, that back then was known as 'The Life and Times of The Working Mum'. With the twists and turns that life directs us, I began to realise that the blog needed a change of direction, and so Life Unexpected was born.

I began writing all those years ago primarily because
I felt so many emotions on my journey into Motherhood.
I needed somewhere to write all of those thoughts and memories down,
before they vanished completely from my mind like many other things have done since I became a parent!

I did not want to forget a single moment of any single day.
So this here blog came to light.
A big open space to capture every detail and feeling,
that I felt in becoming a first time Mum.

This Blog records all that is Leo.
It is a time line of his life.
It is Leo's adventure and this Mummy's time machine.
A place to capture each and every bump in the road that,
we will and do stumble upon from time to time.

It is no secret that life never really unfolds as we may have planned, and my life is no exception to this. I never expected to be pregnant at 21 and welcoming a baby boy into my life just before I turned 22.

I never expected to move back to the family home and watch my life unfold in a whole new direction, but it happened and I adapted. I picked myself up and dusted myself off ready to hop right back on the sheer drop rollercoaster, that seems to have a new dip or loop added in just when you are getting comfortable.

Life is always going to find a way to put us on the floor, but it is how we deal with these inevitable scenarios that brings us out the other side, with a bigger smile and stronger values than we had before. I am a firm believer in the fact that we won't be dealt a hand that we can't handle or solve, where there is a will, there is a way and no matter how unexpected this life may be, I grab it with both hands and enjoy the ride.

This is Life Unexpected.
