Little Dish - A Little Bit of Italy

Leo and I are big fans of the Little Dish meal range, they make a very tasty, easy dinner if you are strapped for time and they are just incredibly convenient. So the fact that they are healthy and Leo enjoys them are just extra bonuses for me!

Little Dish have very recently introduced bite sized pasta bags into their already extensive range of meals, and have kindly sent Leo a few to taste test.

We received a bag of:
- Cheese and Tomato Tortellini
- Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli

Each bag of bite sized pasta will feed up to 4 little mouths and is really simple and quick to prepare for dinner. I have been giving a little pasta on each occasion that I feed Leo as I know he will not eat the entirety of a bag, and I don’t want to waste any. 1 bag would see us through a few meals before it was all gone.

To prepare the pasta all you need to do is boil in a pan for around 4-5 minutes until they are cooked and then add your little one’s favourite sauce or topping. Leo is a big fan of cheese sauce so I decided to whip up a simple cheese sauce to go over the pasta.

Leo wouldn’t even try the pasta on the first evening I presented him with it, and proceeded to just lick the sauce off his fork. Leo has moments where he can be incredibly fussy…But on the next attempt he absolutely loved his Cheese and Tomato Tortellini and ate every bite in sight.

When presented with the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli, I wasn’t sure what he would make of the Spinach but he continued to chow down and really enjoy it.

The new pasta bags are now available from all Waitrose stores and can also be purchased from Ocado.com, so if you give them a try let us know what you think!

The Little Dish Zoo Crew

Leo is at an age now where he eats what we eat, but if for some reason that is not possible it is always handy to have in a ready meal that caters for Leo's sophisticated taste buds. Something quick and easy, while also being taste tantalising, healthy and nutritious.

Little Dish make healthy, natural food for toddlers and kid's using 100% natural ingredients. They never ever add any salt or sugar and the dishes they create are tasty and desired by my little man.

Over the past few months Little Dish have been cooking up a storm in their kitchen, dreaming up new recipes that are even tastier and delicious than before.

To make dinner times fun and entertaining for the kid's Little Dish have introduced their Zoo Crew. Each recipe features it's own exciting character and fun activity on the inside of the packaging.

Cool eh!

Leo has been sent a selection of Little Dish meal's to sink his little teeth into, and that is exactly what he did.

In our selection of meal's we had:

- Chicken Risotto with Daphne the Giraffe
- Pasta, Cheese, Peas and Broccoli Trees with Tommy Tortoise
- Chicken Korma with Max the Monkey
- Spaghetti and Meatballs with Kyle the Kangaroo

When it comes to dinner time in our house, you best find a seat far away from Leo, and even then you may want to don a poncho waterproof as you never know how extravagantly he will devour his dinner.

It can get pretty messy...

Leo thoroughly enjoyed each meal, he demonstrated this by eagerly fisting the food into his open mouth. As soon as the first load had been deposited his hands were off again to find the next mouthful. The portions are very generous and Leo ate exceptionally well on each occasion. We will defiantly be getting some more in so that Leo can enjoy them again.

Leo's favourites were the Spaghetti and Meatballs and Chicken Korma. Leo likes flavoursome food and has done from a young age, there is no skirting around the edges, he wants exciting foods that he can feed himself.

Win a Pair of Little Dish Toddling Shoes!

Litte Dish have teamed up with Barnardo’s Big Toddle to help transform the lives of vulnerable children under 5 across the UK. Little Dish are going to be running lots of exciting activities promoting the Barnardo’s Big Toddle up and down the country to try and get as many little ones as possible taking part.

The Barnardo’s Big Toddle is a ‘mini’ sponsored walk for toddlers and children. The toddle is now in it's 16th year, and is the biggest fundraising event in the UK for under 5s. All the money that is raised by Barnardo’s goes towards helping some of the UK’s most vulnerable under 5s.

The most important point, is that it’s a fun and memorable way for young children to help those who need it - other young children. Esentially it lets children help children who need that little bit of extra support.

This year Barnardo’s theme is children's favourite superhero's. The children are being invited to dress up as their all time favourite hero, to come along and help save the day.

On Tuesday 22nd May 2012, Little Dish will be hosting their first ever Spring Party for the children at Holland Park, London. It is sure to be a great day out, with many different activities going on throughout the day, for kids and parents alike. There will be races, tugs of war, face-painting, t-shirt making, music sessions and story time. Of course every party needs a picnic... which Little Dish will be providing the children with for free, in aid of all their hard walk. After all that toddeling it is safe to say, they will have worked up a hearty appetite.

In support of Little Dish's partnership with Barnardo’s Big Toddle, they are going to be selling special packs of their Chicken and Butternut Squash Pie with a pair of toddling shoes for just £5. The limited edition packs will be available in Sainsbury’s from Wednesday 23rd May 2012.

The toddle shoes come in three different shoe sizes – small 4/5; medium 6/7; and large 8/9 and are sealed with a little Mabel badge by the buckle.

I have 5 pairs of these gorgeous shoes to give away to 5 lucky readers.
