I seem to have blinked, because somehow we are on the count down to Christmas... Again! Where this year has gone I just don't know, but the fact remains... Christmas is NEXT month! Having a school age child has opened up endless gift possibilities, and this year I am focusing a lot more on gifts that we can read or craft together, gifts that are possibilities to help my little man in his first year at school.
I always say that I am going to be prepared and ready in advance, yet somehow time runs away with me and I find myself in November having not really done any Christmas shopping yet...I do have a few exciting books lined up for Santa Clause, and I am in the process of writing my list, and checking it twice, but I do have my work cut out for me.
This year I have decided to be a little tighter with money, it is so easy to go overboard with gifts, but ultimately I know that Leo is going to have a magical experience regardless to how much money I decide to throw at it. The shopping I have completed so far has largely been from The Works, and here are a few of the preparations I have made...
The Night Before Christmas Box
Large Willow Luxury Hamper - £15.00
The Night Before Christmas Book - £2.00
Santa's Sleigh Sticker Activity Book - £1.99
Santa's Musical Train Set - £7.00
Cotton Candy Jelly Belly - £3.00
Books under the Christmas Tree
You can never go wrong with buying a child a book, and I am not ashamed to say that Leo is going to be receiving many new books this Christmas. We love to cosy down and read, and this is more important than ever now that he is learning to read for himself. We get through so many stories that it is refreshing to have such a wide selection of titles to choose from, so to keep things fresh, Leo will be receiving a very generous book selection from Mr Clause this year.
We have been making the most of the 3 books for £10 deal, some of our favourite titles include:
Bedtime Stories for Boys - £4.00
Smelly Stories - £4.00
Children's Bedtime Treasury - £4.00
200 Aesop's Fables - £4.00
Leo is absolutely loving his stories, but he also likes to listen to his favourite ones again...and again.. That's why I love books that have a collection of different stories because it means I don't have to continuously read the same stories time and and time again.
On the run up to Christmas there is that one day that we all secretly love almost as much as the big day itself. Black Friday. A day that happens once a year that offers exclusive and often very generous discounts and savings. A day that the nation takes to the high street with their shopping lists in the hope to tick of as many gifts as possible. A day that makes the leading brands websites crash under the pressure of the Christmas shoppers looking to beat joe bloggs to the prize.
Leo has asked Santa for a battery powered racing car this year, and I am hoping that maybe I can secure this on Black Friday.. Of course I am already on the hunt for the perfect automobile for him!
