The Micro Floral White Scooter Review

I am a big believer in getting involved in Leo’s play, and as one of Leo’s favourite pastimes happens to be scooting, I wanted to get involved and join in with the fun he has. Leo is getting to an age now where he is using his scooter more and more, and we are even beginning to take it out and about with us so that if he gets tired he doesn’t have to walk. It is also a way to encourage him to walk more and stay down on the ground, because 9 times out of 10 he will usually demand to be carried.

Micro Scooter very kindly sent me the Micro Floral WhiteScooter so that I could attempt to keep up with my toddler, and over the last few months I have been putting it through its paces and have been really enjoying using it. In fact Leo has been really enjoying me using it too, it has given a lot more opportunity to get outside and play in this beautiful weather we have been graced with of late.

The Micro Scooter arrived very quickly after the order was placed, I was kept up to speed with where it was at any one time and also told when it would be arriving. I could not fault the Micro Scooter website if I tried, everything is clearly laid out and easy to navigate and the order process is fantastic.

The scooter was delivered by courier and I was impressed with how promptly it arrived from the point of order. The scooter required no assembly and was just a case of popping up the handle, and it was ready to hit the great outdoors with my little man.

The scooter handles really well and after I found my confidence (having not scooted since I was a child!) I was keeping up with Leo no problem, and he absolutely loved that his Mummy had her own set of wheels.

The scooter has been perfectly designed for adults (or bigger kids in my case) and boasts a larger frame and bigger wheels in order to allow taller riders to enjoy scooting, and even get out and about with the kids. The handlebar is height adjustable so I can quickly and easily adjust this within a few moments, this means that regardless of your age or height, you are never too tall to enjoy the Adult Micro Scooter!

The fact that I can fold the scooter down to cart around with me is just super, and it will come in really handy when we go away as a family. Leo is so pleased that Mummy has her very own scooter, and the novelty hasn’t worn off. Having your 3 year old invite you out to play has to be the best feeling ever!

Driving the scooter has proven incredibly easy, it’s simple a case of leaning and steering the scooter in the direction that you wish. It glides along smoothly because the deck is lower to the floor, which is also good in case I mis-judge the steering and decide to throw myself off. I would be telling a white lie if I said I hadn’t got a little carried away with my scooting!

I personally loved being able to scoot the summer days away with Leo, and now he is getting older there is going to be so much more opportunity for us to get out and about on our scooters. A family that scoots together, learns together!

When I became a Mum I made Leo a promise, I promised to be active and join in with his games. I promised to be fun! I promised to be the kind of Mum who would hop on the most daring of rollercoasters with him and go for day’s out at our favourite theme parks. I promised above all else to be playful and energetic in all that we did and were going to do.

I was 21 when I became pregnant, so I have always had age on my side. There have been a few occasions where I have faced stigma for being a ‘young mum’, but the reality is I have the get up and go, I can run, jump, hop and skip! I can climb trees, hula hoop and take on soft play! As a twenty something Mum I can really take part in absolutely everything that Leo does, and not being the tallest person in the world.. height restrictions don’t really apply to me!

I love to get outside with Leo and take part in his games. There have been times I have stood on the side line as I have watched him scooting around at warp speed, and I have wished that I could join in with him. I never have been one to just sit on the edge and watch everyone else having all the fun, I like to be involved.

Now the whole family has a set of wheels, that’s Mummy, Daddy and Leo who now has a few, so It was lovely when he decided to give one to his younger cousin so that he could join in with all of the fun too.

These days when Leo scoots, one or all of us scoot too. Just the other day I became the leader of a scooter gang, and that is definitely something that I didn’t expect at the age of 24! Within the new scooter gang we have a great age range…Of course I am the eldest! There is my other half Luke at 24, 12 year old sister Alice, 2 year old Leo and my 18 month old nephew Josh, who is already able to scoot and happens to do the most fantastic leg pop!

Lots of giggling ensues when the scooting begins. Giggles at those having their first go on the Y-Volution Carver as they begin to wiggle their bodies to propel themselves forward. Leo’s Daddy seems to have claimed the Carver for his own, but granted he is the one who has discovered how to pull some of the better moves on there.

I have been using my Micro Scooter to keep up with everyone else, you can probably in vision us all scooting around being prompted by Leo to ‘Go Mummy! Go!’ and me trying to remember quickly how to scoot again! It’s amazing watching Leo’s face as I follow his commands, it really is rewarding seeing that big smile of his glaze his entire face over into that blissfully happy contented look of his.

Suddenly a simple family scooting activity is a race, and Leo has informed me that he is going to WIN!  Trying to keep up with my fast paced toddler is always an interesting prospect, and if I am trying to catch him while he is scooting around these days… and I am on foot, it really is a sight. He weaves circles and those circles are usually around me… Thankfully now I scoot too, I do have a fighting chance of keeping up.

Family scooting is not something I had considered when Leo got his first scooter, but the idea soon formed in my mind. It is an activity that gets us all outside, gets us all active and something that we can all do together. I can remember spending hours on my parent’s drive as a child, just scooting up and down, round and round or racing my younger brother. I love being able to leave my age on a hook and spend quality time with Leo in an environment where age just doesn't matter.

I think sometimes we as parent’s need to cast our age aside. Forget that we had to do that growing up thing… It’s not relevant anymore! As soon as you have kids we open ourselves up to the days that have gone by. I think one of the most important things that we can do is find our inner child again, and watch our children’s faces light up when we do.

Scooting together has opened up a whole new door for us, it gets us outside and playing, it gets us smiling, talking and learning all at the same time. Right now we are just scooting around the confinement of the family home, where we don’t have to worry too much about cars, but sooner or later we will venture further a field and our scooter fun will continue!

2 Years Wise...

It is coming up to 2 months since Leo turned 2 years old, and we haven't really slowed down since then.

We have been on many exciting trips in the weeks that have followed, and spent lot's of quality time together. Leo has enjoyed seizing the day and running off on his adventures with Mumma just as much as I have in taking him. 

My very clever two year old has begun to recognise the make and model of cars, I have a Peugeot 206 and if we are out and about he will point out another Peugeot and associate it with 'Mumma', he gets even more excited if it is a 206 in the same colour. Leo also recognises Daddy's VW van, and now if we happen to see a white VW... Then of course it has to be Dadda. The many White vans that I have driven past of late only to hear 'Bye Bye Dadda' chirp up from the back seat. Leo is also recognising his Uncle's Passat, which has been nick named 'Josh' after his baby cousin.

On the 19th July 2013 Leo took a momentous leap in learning to scoot on his Micro Scooter. I decided the time had come for my big boy to have the seat taken off, so that he could be just like the bigger kids who were now scooting circles around him. That very same day Leo rose to the occasion and discovered just how fun scooting could be.

Today Leo was able to scoot around with some of the bigger kids on our street, and even got to play with the boy next door for the very first time. Our street has been in drastic need of a re-surfacing for a while, so the last few days the road has had just that. Today the roadworks were finished and there were very few cars parked up, so as soon as the last work man cleared away... The kids came out in force to make the most of this new flat space.

Kids with bikes, scooters and skate boards took to the street. I had no idea we lived on a street with so many kid's, but Leo loved the opportunity to meet new people and make the most of all of his favourite toys. 

Leo very proudly showed off his super scooting ability.

He had such wonderful compliments on his Jakayaan Balance Bike.

He even got to try out the new Digger I bought him earlier this week.

Today Leo even had his very first knock on the door for 'Can Leo come out to play'. The boy next door and his little friend had made the very special visit to come and call for him. The very first time anyone had ever come a calling for my ever popular little man.

As Leo is a little young to just go out and play, I invited the boys into the back garden where Leo was patiently waiting for the boy next door to come and talk to him through the fence. If you could have only seen Leo's face when he saw that the boy next door was actually in his garden, and here to play with him... It truly was a picture!

Leo is just getting over a viral infection that has knocked him for six over the past couple of days, and in turn knocked me for six. Tonight though my little guy was back to his happy go lucky self and we giggled as we cooked dinner together. I offered Leo some chopped Pepper which he popped straight into his mouth, and then looked well and truly put out. Until I put some in my mouth and the crunchiness became the best game since sliced bread. 

Then came the bouncing around the kitchen like mad people just because we could, with a very giddy toddler shouting 'more, more, more!' as we got a little bit faster! 

Suddenly bedtime has caught up with us, a little bit later than usual but time just tends to run away with me, and now he is a big 2 year old boy... What is half an hour!?

Note to self: I must have the only toddler in the world who thinks that the only kind of phone call is a FaceTime chat... *Makes time to show Leo the old fashioned way that phone calls take place* 

The Mini Micro Scooter 3in1 Review

With Leo now being well and truly in the toddler stage he seems to be on the go more and more every day. Sometimes I feel completely drained of all my energy by just watching him play so enthusiastically, he doesn't seem to ever give himself 5 minutes for a break…

I am always on the look out for products that will keep Leo active and most importantly out of trouble…Something that will wear him out enough for an afternoon nap. A nap that he is very nearly dropping!

Micro Scooter has very kindly sent Leo, the toddler who can’t sit still...A 3in1 Mini Micro Scooter and potentially provided me with a means to tire out my active little man!

The Mini Micro Scooter 3in1 is suitable for toddlers from the age of 12 months old and will see them through right until the age of 5. Toddlers can use the scooter as a ride on due to the seat and O-bar handle that you can attach to the frame. I think this is a great idea especially if you have older children, as it get’s your toddler involved in their games and gives them their own set of wheels!

The scooter grows with the child and after he has finished with the sit and ride, you can progress it on to the next stage. The next stage being a Mini Scooter with the O-Bar handle which will prepare them for finally finishing up with a Mini Micro Scooter complete with T-Bar handle.

With the arrival of the highly anticipated Micro 3in1 Scooter, I en-listed Luke’s assistance in assembling the Scooter for Leo to have a play with. The set up was easy (or that’s the way Luke made it look). You simply have to choose between the O-Bar and T-Bar handles and slot it into the base of the scooter. As we were setting it up for Leo with the seat to start with we had to select the desired height position and attach the seat unit to the O-Bar handle using the Allen keys that are provided in the packaging.

Leo was demonstrating his usual ‘I am not waiting around, I am going to play with this now’ attitude, and continued to roll the wheels of the Scooter while Luke tried to get it all up and running for him. It took a little longer to assemble with Leo’s persistence but it is a very simple assembly procedure (and will take half the time without a toddler in tow!)

With the completed Micro 3in1 Scooter now stood in front of all of us, Leo was ready to hop on and have a scoot around. I sat Leo on it so that he could get a feel for it and off he went in typical Leo style, not sitting still for a moment.

Leo was going backwards and forwards and I thought that he may struggle turning it due to it being reliant on balance and it going in the direction that you lean towards, but somehow…Leo can turn it. I have a feeling he is dragging it in the way he wants it to go and it is not being achieved on balance alone, but he is still getting around just lovely on it.

So far we are only using the sit and ride around the house, but over the coming months I think we will be venturing outside for a whole new experience. As Leo gets a little older the Scooter is going to be a fab form of transport for him when he doesn't feel like walking and it is something that I can easily keep in the boot of the car.

I think over the next couple of months Leo will be perfecting his ability on the sit and ride aspect of the Scooter, which is going to provide him with the ability to work with his balance and allow him to apply this trick in other areas. It is a great skill to learn and it probably won’t be long before he is hula hooping with me on the Wii!

For now and the foreseeable future we will be sticking with the seat unit, I can’t see Leo perfecting the scoot motion any time soon but when the time does come to remove the seat, Leo will have a proper little Scooter paired with the O-Bar handle. And then one day in the very distant future (at the time of writing...) we will be able to remove the O-Bar handle all together and replace it with the very grown up T-Bar and…Viola – a complete Mini Micro Scooter!

From watching Leo climb on and off, going around the living room and knocking into things it is safe to say that the Mini Micro Scooter 3 in 1 is very durable, it will survive a toddler and that is of course very important. We all know that our toddlers will bash things (often deliberately!) and we need to know that these items that our little rascals choose for the ramming… Are going to stand up to the hands of time, and therefore last for future bumps in the road.

I can safely say after watching Leo on his, that the Mini Micro Scooter will certainly stand it’s ground and fight the good fight while remaining solid and safe.

I am pleased to report that even after the Micro Scooter had been ‘leo’d’ as I like to call it, it is still standing and looks set to see Leo through to the ripe old age of 5, and maybe even beyond!

It would make a great Christmas Present or First Birthday present and is one that will be with them for years to come.
