Another Week, Another Milestone...

As another week comes to a end, I see yet another sign that shows me how my baby boy is growing up. This week Leo has discovered his baby walker, and pulled himself up against the sofa for the first time. He has been pulling himself up to standing since the beginning of March, against everything I would rather he didn't use to to this task.

As for the baby walker, I can't help feeling that the wheels roll way to fast for his little legs. As soon as he finds his footing the walker rolls forward and he either needs to run along with it (except he can't even balance yet!) or drop back down to the floor. Saying that though, he has walked along a few steps with it, allowing me to basque in yet another proud Mummy moment. Watching him find that new confidence, and the ability to hold himself with such strength, then watching him take those little baby steps, is just amazing. He has come so very far in just under 9 months.

 Leo seems to already have found an appreciation for his walker, as when he falls back on his padded hiney, he gets very frustrated if he cannot return to his up-right standing position.

That brings me to another development. A certain Blue eyed boy, has discovered how to throw a temper tantrum. When he has been re-positioned away from a potential danger. He has arched his back and screamed. When he hasn't been understood...He has arched his back and screamed. If he hasn't been fed quickly enough.....He arches his back and screams. Notice a pattern? That is just in the past week, I am all for voicing your opinions but I have to admit I will not be tolerating temper tantrums.

Leo will discover this from a young age. I will not accept a temper tantrum in any form, especially while out and about. I will pick him up and take him back home. If we are at home and he throws one, I will put him in his room for him to safely calm down. He is too young to understand just yet, but this is a lesson he will learn. I am not afraid to discipline my son.

We will be avid users of the naughty step, and we will have ground rules. Yes I am my Son's best friend, but I am also his Mummy. He will not laugh in my face and he will understand that he cannot and will not get away with murder.

There is nothing more frustrating than seeing a child who does not understand the word 'No' and finds a good telling off a hilarious joke. I want my Son to respect me, and enjoy our time together. That is why ground rules are so important. 

I am a proud Mummy that loves her baby, and loves watching each development. I am also a Mummy who wants the best for her Son and a Mummy who is not afraid to show him who is Boss. At this moment in time, I am happy watching each stage and enjoying the rose coloured glasses I have on.

At this moment in time, my boy can do no wrong.

Leo & His New Found Wave

Just tonight, completely out of the blue and so very un-unexpectedly, Leo waved his very first wave!

Leo and I were playing around on the living room floor, and as usual I had a very active 8 month old crawling circles around me. I often wave at Leo to encourage him to do it back, I even take his hand and gently wave it for him. This encouragement seems to have worked...as tonight when I waved at Leo, he un-mistakenly began to wave back!

From other post's in regards to Leo's First's and Milestones, you will realise that with each new step forward, I always think that my imagination is seeing things that aren't really happening. However Leo is now most certainly waving!

His Great Grandfather witnessed his very first wave and not long after his Uncle paid us a visit. As soon as Leo's uncle entered the room...Leo put on a mass waving extravaganza!

This is such a proud Mummy moment for me. I have taken a little footage of his wave. You can't see but Leo's Aunt, Uncles, Grandad and Great Grandad are all sat on the sofa waving like there is no tomorrow at him. This is Leo's response...

Well done Leo, you make me so proud!

Leo's First Belly Laugh - 5 Months Old

We have been having giggles off Leo for many weeks now, but just the other night he let out his first belly laugh. I am so happy that I managed to get footage of this as it is just a joy to watch over and over again.

Leo is obviously getting into the Christmas spirit and making his tummy shake like a bowl full of jelly!

When did you're baby laugh their first belly laugh? Did you manage to record it? What was so funny to them?

Leo was laughing at his Auntie, nothing in particular...just pure silliness! I guess at 5 months old that anything and everything has the potential to be historically funny!

We have a roll over! A rolling Baby!

Today Leo decided he was going to reward me by finally rolling over! It was completely unexpected and out of the blue, but equally amazing and instantly put a smile on my shocked face.

For the past 3 weeks we have been attending a baby massage session at a local children's centre, last week another baby (16 weeks old!) decided to do the un-thinkable and roll over. Once she started there was no stopping her! This week....it was our turn!

Leo was enjoying a leg massage...well he was until he suddenly tippled himself over on to his tummy! At first I thought that I somehow assisted his sudden rolly poly....so to test him, I instinctively placed him on his back. Instantly he was back on his tummy. I am one very proud Mummy!

I have tried to demonstrate Leo's new trick to Luke, but unfortunately Leo does not want to perform on demand! So I guess Daddy will now have to play the waiting game in order to see his son performing his new party piece!

I know now that he is on the move....so I have to kiss the days of being able to put him down in one place, and finding him there moments later...Goodbye! So goodbye and adios, I will miss you! However a BIG hello...to the new little monster who is going to be keeping me on my toes for the rest of my days!

After this momentous occasion we decided to pay my brother's other half a visit, so Leo has now had his first dip in a hot tub! He absolutely loved floating around in the warmth and bubbles. He showed his appreciation by kicking and babbling. We even got to use his new baby float prior to a impending trip to Tenerife next week!

So after another busy day of going here, there and everywhere we are back at home...Leo is tucked up in bed and me...well I am sat with a well deserved white wine! It is Friday night after all!

Who do you're children most look like?

As the weeks go by, Leo has started to really become his own little person. He has acquired his own cheeky little personality and really knows what he likes....but also what he really does not.

One thing is clear to me through all the change though...because as the weeks go by....he is growing to look more and more like his Dad. He is in fact Luke’s double!

Unfortunately I have not seen any photos of Luke as a baby, but I am pretty sure that if I did get hold of some, he would have many of the same characteristics as Leo does.

This got me thinking about genetics in general and wondering who your children look most like? Is it Mummy or Daddy? Or even a bit of both?

When I look at Leo all I can see is Luke staring back at me, the same big blue eyes and big Cheshire cat smiles...all be it Leo’s are very gummy and extra cute!

When it comes to personality I do believe that Leo will have inherited some of my traits....being very cheeky and outgoing. I know that as soon as Leo can get on the move he will.....and then I am really going to have my work cut out for me between him and his Dad!

Dear Leo....

Dear Leo,

This sudden change in sleep pattern is not working for me. I know that at only 18 weeks old, you have always spoilt me with the amount of sleep you have allowed me to steal at any one given time.

Since you turned 15 weeks old this has all changed! You may only be getting up once a night....but I would love to know, when you think you will be ready to sleep through until 7:00am again.

Don't get me wrong....it is lovely that at 4:00am you are in such a playful mood....and grinning like a cheshire cat....but no Leo, I don't want to play at this early hour.

If you could point me in the right direction of what you need for this to happen, you can rest assured it will happen, with no questions asked!

I thought you may be going through the dreaded four month growth spurt. Maybe you are? How long do you think this may last Leo?

So far you have sailed through every other spurt and without much disruption to either of us. I hope at the end of this transition, my amazing all night sleeper returns to me.

So Leo, for the moment I know that we have to get up for either a quick bottle of milk or a twilight playtime, but please remember Mummy will be a better Mummy with a few more hours shut eye! We will get you through your much needed growing time.....but please slot back into our little routine very soon!

Dear 4 month growth spurt,

I am not a huge fan of yours, I know you bring about important changes in my baby boy, but you have had your clutches on him for weeks!

I just want to know how long you plan on sticking around? Why have you made this the worst hit yet?

So please 4 month growth spurt, It is high time you leave....enough is enough.
