On Sunday the 8th of July 2012 all of our closest friends and family gathered.
They gathered for one very special little man, and to witness his baptism.
This special little man is of course my one and only Leo.
The morning was spent getting ready for Leo's special occasion.
Make up and hair were completed, and breakfast was devoured by my beautiful boy.
He certainly needed a full tummy before heading to church...
Leo was dressed to impress in his beautiful Ivory suit. I tucked his shirt into his trousers,
and the waist coat looked divine. Five minutes later the shirt was back out and
despite my greatest efforts made a appearance throughout the day.
We arrived at the church with time to spare, and everyone was looking their very best.
Leo was feeding off everyone's excitement, squealing and laughing for everyone's delight.
Walking through the arch into the church, we were greeted by friends old and new.
Family and extended family were here to help us celebrate our beautiful boy and,
shower him in love.
In the large church each and every giggle from our little man was magnified.
Bouncing off each and every wall, reminding everyone we were here for one happy little boy.
The minister approached his crowd and signalled that the service was about to begin,
before realising that the late arrivals were still pouring in at the back.
He looked taken a back...maybe even a little cross that people could not be sat in
their seats on time.
When everyone was seated and he had said a few words, Leo was called forward to the font.
Leo was not phased by the water marking a cross on his forehead,
and he was not faltered when the holy water was poured over his head.
He took it all in his stride, and was on his very best behaviour.
The Godparents made their promises and looked so very proud of their little Godson throughout, all the while Leo was staring at them and awaiting them to look his way so
he could give them all beaming smiles.
While the attention was all on Leo, he was fine and exceptionally happy. Unfortunately we were sharing the service with Two other babies, and they of course needed their chance in the spot light too.
My little man was bored pretty quickly and soon wriggled his way out of my arms on and onto the floor, where he stumbled around and soon found a lovely plaque with a very special noise maker. Of course he wasted no time in playing with his new toy, resulting in me quickly scooping him back up into my arms.
The service was lovely, but not what I expected. There were no hymns and to me that did seem unusual. However it was such a special and memorable day.
It was Leo's day...
Everyone from the church moved up the road to the local pub, for nibbles and drinks.
It was a lovely day filled with laughter and lots of cake. The cake was the biggest hit, especially when it almost took off
with sparklers.
Leo showed off his new found walking ability and toddled around the room, causing everyone to goo and gaa over him.
I have to admit I was one of them, I still find it hard to believe my baby is walking.
Leo was showered in love from everyone, and judging by the many gifts and cards I opened,
they all know that he is one very special, beautiful little man.
